Skykomish River Re-opens in select areas for game fish


 

Skykomish River (near Reiter Ponds) re-open for fishing

Action: Re-opens portions of the Skykomish River around Reiter Ponds and the Wallace River to fishing for trout (steelhead) and gamefish.

Effective dates and times: Jan. 26 through Feb. 15, 2017.

Species affected: Trout and gamefish.

Locations:

  • Skykomish River: From 1,500 feet upstream to 1,000 feet downstream of Reiter Ponds outlet.
  • Wallace River:  From the railroad trestle (downstream of Hwy 2 bridge) to 200 feet upstream of water intake at Wallace hatchery.

Other Information: Please refer to the 2016/2017 Washington Sport Fishing Rules regulation pamphlet for the current rules.

Reason for action:  This emergency rule is needed to reopen the Skykomish River near Reiter Ponds and the Wallace River. The winter steelhead egg take goals for the Snohomish hatcheries have now been met.
